Next month’s PlayStation Plus games include Star Wars: Squadrons

Sony has announced June’s list of freebies for PS Plus subscribers, with Motive Studios’ X-Wing-versus-TIE-Fighter-’em-up vomit sim prepped for deployment.

From 1 June, according to the PlayStation Blog, PS Plus subscribers can download Star Wars: Squadrons, Operation: Tango, and Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown for keepsies. The first two are available until 5 July, but as a launch special, Sega’s remake of its 2006 arcade punch party is going into extra time and tapping out on 2 August instead.

Sega’s iconic one-on-one battler gets remade for a new generation by Yakuza and Judgment developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. This console exclusive debuts on PlayStation Plus, allowing both VF veterans and newcomers to experience the intense martial arts combat, deep strategy, and intricately balanced gameplay of the groundbreaking 3D fighter in stunning HD. New online features – like custom tournaments supporting up to 16 players and live spectating – join classic modes like Rank Match, Arcade, and VF5’s famously robust Training to deliver the definitive Virtua Fighter experience.

Star Wars: Squadrons and Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown are for PS4 or PS5 via backwards compatibility, but although the game is also out on PS4, the PS Plus version of Operation: Tango is exclusively for PS5 consoles.
