For Microsoft’s first industry event since its acquisition of new BFF ZeniMax Media back in March, the company has announced a co-op XBOX LUVS BETHESDA 4 EVA hype-show featuring 90 minutes of “everything you want to know about the epic gaming lineup coming out of this partnership” and more.
The purchase is a big deal for Xbox, which – let’s be real for a moment – has not managed to keep up with PlayStation in terms of AAA exclusives. Besides its in-house development studio (Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises), some of Bethesda’s publishing subsidiaries include Arkane (Dishonored), MachineGames (Wolfenstein), and id Software (DOOM), so fan expectations are dialled to max for what’s next.
“You’ve told us how excited you are about welcoming Bethesda into the Xbox family,” sez Xbox marketing guy Aaron Greenberg, “so we know you’re going to want a front-row seat to the Xbox & Bethesda Games showcase – a 90-minute show packed with everything you want to know about the epic gaming lineup coming out of this partnership, the incredible games coming to Xbox this holiday, upcoming releases on Xbox Game Pass, and more.”
Remember also that first-party Xbox games launch simultaneously on Xbox Game Pass, so things could get controversial. Xbox and Bethesda have been super ambiguous about the new prospects of the next Elder Scrolls game, for example, so exclusivity or even a “free” Game Pass launch is inevitably going to mean Drama on the Internet™. And what do we love even more than games? Drama on the Internet™.
I dunno what else Xbox has in the queue, but can we have some more Hellblade 2, plz.
Tune into the Xbox & Bethesda Games presentation on Sunday 13 June at 19:00 local time on Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, or Facebook.
