The bodies may still hit the floor, but they will not stay there. And that’s just one of the changes included in Rainbow Six Siege as part of the upcoming season, North Star.
First up, there’s the new Operator, Thunderbird, available via the North Star Battle Pass. Thunderbird is a Defender with the ability to deploy healing Kóna Stations. The Kóna Stations shoot out a little burst of health magic, when an Operator is within range, that will replace lost health or over-heal if you’re already full. Downed Operators can even crawl over to a Kóna Station to get revived. Once a dose is delivered, the Kóna Station goes into cooldown while it prepares the next one. The Kóna Stations can be destroyed and used by enemies, so maybe keep track of where you left them.
Then, on the gameplay side, you will no longer be able to peek through a single bullet hole. You’re going to have to make your holes a bit bigger, more noticeable, more glorious. You’ll also no longer be able to hide behind the corpses of your fallen enemies, as they will now disappear after a short period of time. The bodies will be replaced by translucent Operator icons. Leaving bodies lying around was more realistic, but they didn’t appear in the same place for everyone, which was unfair for line of sight reasons.
There are a bunch of other changes, including updates to the Favela map. Check some of them out in the gameplay video, below:
Rainbow Six Siege: North Star will go live on the PC Test Server from 25 May, with the full release following shortly thereafter (Ubisoft has yet to confirm the specific date).
