Attack on Titan Giant Manga

Limited edition Attack on Titan manga officially the largest comic book ever published

The titan-sized edition of Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan, Vol. 1 set a Guinness World Record for being the largest comic book ever published.

At just over a meter long, 71.5 cm wide, and weighing 13.7 kg, the 96-page limited edition of the first volume of Attack on Titan, published by Kodansha, was a promotional stunt released in March this year alongside the final chapter of the Attack on Titan manga series. It was limited to 100 copies, selling for about $1,400 each, with an announcement that it would be considered a Guinness World Record for “largest comic book published” if all 100 copies were sold.

Editor Shintaro Kawakubo was initially sceptical that they would achieve the record, given the price, but the giant book sold out just two minutes after going on sale. Which is a testament to the series’ mega-popularity and the disposable income of its fans.
