The upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword features many improvements, from graphics to controls, but if you want less tedious fast travel you’re going to have to pay extra in the form of a special amiibo.
Nintendo recently announced a fancy new Zelda & Loftwing amiibo figure, due to launch alongside Skyward Sword HD. Amiibos are creations of Nintendo that contain premium bonus content codes in the form of a collectible figure. You tap it on your Joy-Con and it unlocks whatever exclusive cosmetic/item/much-needed quality of life improvement you purchased. With the new Zelda & Loftwing amiibo, you get improved fast travel for Skyward Sword HD, something that many fans thought should have just come standard with the remake.
This is because fast travel between the floating islands of Skyloft and the Surface below (something you need to do fairly regularly) is such a chore in the original game, only being possible from save points. Get the amiibo, and you can travel back and forth whenever and wherever you like (“even from inside dungeons”), for the low, low price of $25.00 (about R352.00). If it isn’t sold out already.
You already spent R1,199.00 on the remake of a game you probably already played, what’s R352.00 (plus delivery/import tax/mystery fees) more?
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD launches for Nintendo Switch on 16 July.
