Injustice: Gods Among Us is getting an animated film adaptation

Apparently there’s an animated movie based on the Injustice: Gods Among Us video game in the works and a sneak peak is included alongside bonus content with the Batman: The Long Halloween, Part 2. Which is a weird way to “announce” something like this, but you do you, Warner Bros.

The stealth announcement was made via press release relating to Batman: The Long Halloween, Part 2 with no other information supplied. Assumedly, Warner Bros. will fill us in with a voice cast and public-facing trailer at some point, but for now that secret knowledge is locked away in the special features of an upcoming release.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is a fighting game, based in the DC Comics universe, in which a parallel dimension Superman has gone mad after being tricked by the Joker into killing a pregnant Lois Lane (sjoe…). Superman nukes Metropolis and kills the Joker, then goes on to create the One Earth Regime to enforce global peace as a ruthless dictator, with his super-best friends. Batman obviously opposes the idea with his own team. Then, the “regular” Justice League gets teleported into this parallel dimension. Butt-kicking ensues, for justice.

It’ll probably make a pretty great, if pretty dark, movie.

While you wait, Batman: The Long Halloween, Part 1 releases on 22 June, with Part 2 following on 27 July. Check out the trailers below:
