Are you watching Invincible?

Because you should be. Based on the comic book series of the same name by The Walking Dead writer Robert Kirkman so you know this isn’t for kids, Invincible introduces protagonist Mark Grayson, a high school teen whose dad is a superhero from an alien planet, like whatever, no big deal. But things are about to get dysfunctional.

Mark starts to develop his own superpowers, and with some flying lessons and custom spandex from dad, gets into the family business in collaboration with the Global Defense Agency and other local supes. At the end of the first episode, though, the plot makes an abrupt and unexpected diversion into “hold up, what just fucking happened”. Also, Mark has girl problems.

If the “you know this isn’t for kids” up top wasn’t obvious enough, THIS SHOW ISN’T FOR KIDS. It’s probably the most graphically violent animated TV show ever.

The show’s voice cast includes Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) and JK Simmons (Spider-Man, Oz), with Sandro Oh (Grey’s Anatomy), Gillian Jacobs (Community), Walter Goggins (Django Unchained) and Jason Mantzoukas (Brooklyn 99).

Invincible is out now on Amazon Prime Video.
