Just as I hoped, the League of Legends animated series, Arcane, is coming to Netflix. Dreams do come true.
We got our first look at Arcane back in 2019 and now the LoL Twitter account has dropped a teaser alongside a vague release date of “Fall”. The series was meant to come out in 2020, but we all know how 2020 went.

We don’t know much about the story, other than it seemingly revolving around sisters Vi and Jinx and a mysterious source of power being pedalled in the city of Piltover and its shadow sister-city Zaun, known for their development of hextech. But expect some other familiar faces to pitch up, since Piltover is the home of Caitlyn, Ezreal, Jayce, Heimerdinger, and the controversial Seraphine, amongst others. And in the dodgier Zaun underbelly, you’ve got characters like Blitzcrank, Janna, Singed, Ekko, Viktor, Urgot, and Warwick. Any number could make an appearance.
Hextech is a technology that allows for the creation of bespoke magical artefacts that can be wielded by anyone, regardless of their aptitude for using magic. It harnesses the power of extremely rare crystals and hextech crafting is a closely guarded secret. Piltover and Zaun tend to disagree on how this manufactured power should be used – plenty of scope for drama.
Arcane should appear on Netflix some time around September/October this year.
