If you don’t have quite enough stress in your life at the moment, the Epic Games Store is offering up some free anxiety fuel for a limited time with Alien: Isolation.
Originally released in 2014, Alien: Isolation is an atmospheric survival horror set 15 years after the events of 1979’s classic sci-fi horror Alien. You play as the daughter of Ellen Ripley, stuck on the Sevastapol space station, carrying on the family tradition of being hunted by a xenomorph menace. Except you don’t get any guns. Well, not useful ones. Also, most of the people you meet are pretty rubbish, too. But you need to find out what happened to your mom, so deal with it.
Alien: Isolation is all about stealth as you move around the compromised space station, trying to avoid drawing the attention of the ever-prowling xenomorph, while trying to figure out what’s going on. Simply breathing at the wrong time could end your life, it’s great.
Usually R409.00, Alien: Isolation is free on the Epic Games Store until 29 April at 17:00 SAST.
I had to stop playing pretty much as soon as the xenomorph actually appears, but I am a wuss. With the EGS deal, at least you won’t have paid for a game you can’t play.
