Jupiter's Legacy

Jupiter’s Legacy is about ageing superheroes yearning for the good old days

Being a superhero is hard. Prepare for super-powered, multi-generational drama as Mark Millar’s comic book series Jupiter’s Legacy gets adapted for TV by Netflix.

Jupiter’s Legacy follows a group of friends who received superpowers after visiting a mysterious island in the 1930s, made the world a better place as super-powered team The Union, and are now struggling to understand it – like most people over the age of 50. Also, their equally superpowered children aren’t quite living up to their legends (probably too busy playing on their phones).

Did I mention the world is changing? Because it is. And you know how much old people hate change. Back in my day, you could blow up a city block and people would thank you for it. Now it’s all genocide this and human rights that. People are offended so easily these days, it’s a damn shame.

The cast includes Josh Duhamel as The Utopian (leader of The Union and typical old man), Ben Daniels as his brother Brainwave, Leslie Bibb as his wife Lady Liberty, Elena Kampouris as their disillusioned daughter who doesn’t want to take part in family activities, and Andrew Horton as Paragon, their son who will probably never be good enough.

This is giving me The Boys vibes but with more complaining about “kids these days”. I’ll give it a try.

Jupiter’s Legacy launches on Netflix on 7 May.
