Ancient Aliens Cat

There’s an Ancient Aliens movie in the works

Please cast Nicolas Cage, please cast Nicolas Cage, please cast Nicolas Cage…

You know that ridiculous (if meme-worthy) pseudo-documentary series on the History Channel about how aliens are responsible for pretty much everything in history we haven’t managed to fully explain yet? Here’s a refresher:

awiens
Accurate.

Well, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the series is getting a “globe-spanning adventure” film adaptation directed by Josh Heald (Cobra Kai) for Legendary Entertainment. The film will feature “ancient sites and artifacts, confronting the theories and questions raised by the popular docuseries”, so prepare for your mind to be blown, I guess.

I really hope this is going to be a comedic take on the whole thing, or something earnestly absurd like National Treasure, because the idea that aliens are responsible for some of the most impressive architectural feats in history (like any of the pyramids or the Sphinx) is just insulting to all of humanity. Also, more than a little racist. I have some hope since Heald and co-producers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg are known for their comedy work on things like Hot Tub Time Machine, Blockers, and Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle.

Also, if there’s a more perfect role for Mr. Cage, I’d like to see it. That one where he’s playing himself doesn’t count.
