Outriders Pyromancer

The Outriders launch is giving me Anthem flashbacks

The much anticipated co-op looter shooter (now with added space wizardry) Outriders launched on 1 April to sign-in bugs, server disconnects, and crossplay malfunctions. You know, the usual.

The crossplay problem was so bad that developers People Can Fly quickly disabled PC console crossplay until they could fix the desynchronisation issue behind it. Steam and Epic players can still play together, as can console players, supposedly.

I wouldn’t know. My trio of Xbox Altered couldn’t join each other last night, two of us were even in the same house. We consistently got stuck at the 80 percent mark and the official suggested fix of confirming/setting a starting point did not help. We’d all just completed the prologue, so we were all technically in the same place anyway, but no, NO CO-OP FOR YOU.

All of this obviously assumes you could get into the game at all this weekend. I had to reboot my console multiple times just to get to character creation. Once I was in, I was pretty happy, although the UI could do with some work and the frequent load screens aren’t doing the immersion any favours.

People Can Fly is, however, working on it. And they appreciate your patience.

Hopefully, not too many players will be put off long term, because it seems like Outriders could be fun. However, I’ll be going back to Apex for my evening entertainment until they fix things.
