Apex Legends Chinatown Market collaboration postponed for rebranding

A skin collaboration between Apex Legends and Chinatown Market has been postponed as the clothing company rebrands in the wake of recent anti-Asian hate crimes and violence in the USA.

Respawn started hyping a collaboration with Chinatown Market last week that would have seen new skins for certain Legends (so far we’ve only seen Sundown Desperado Bloodhound and Mic Check Lifeline) added to the game today, 30 March, but the clothing company has decided on a last minute rebrand to better reflect what the company actually is (i.e. not Asian, or related to the actual Chinatown neighbourhood, in any way).

Chinatown Market is a Los Angeles-based clothing and accessories brand inspired by the vibrancy of New York City’s Chinatown. It has developed a cult following for littering its designs with the most viral pop culture references of the moment. However, they have also been facing backlash from the Asian American community for their lack of prominent Asian employees and silence on recent anti-Asian attacks. So, they figured it’s probably about time for a name change. That’ll fix everything.

What this means for you, is you’ll have to wait a few months for those colourful new Apex skins. You’ll survive.
