Dark Horse Comics recently announced an Apex Legends comic series that you’re going to want to get if you’re at all interested in following the battle royale’s ever-expanding lore. How else are you going to know why that snide comment was made when you thanked someone for pointing out a backpack?
Respawn’s Tom Casiello also wants to be sure that you understand just how important it is that you buy these comics.

According to IGN, the four-issue series, written by Titanfall’s Jesse Stern, will feature all 16 Legends coming together to fight “Mad Scientists, brutal assassins, and the sudden and sinister grip of The Syndicate, a corrupt cabal attempting to ‘fix’ arena outcomes in their favour”. Seeing as their team includes at least one mad scientist and a couple of assassins, things could get a little awkward.
The Syndicate is a conglomerate of mercenary companies, a sub-division of which runs the Apex Games, so it sounds like the Legends will be fighting the exact thing that made them celebrities. That’s got to be a contract violation of some sort.
The first issue of Apex Legends: Overtime will launch in print and digital formats on 2 June.
