Spiritual successor to the Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance game series from 20 years ago (in name at least), Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance is a co-op action RPG, set in the D&D universe, that will have you whaling on beholders, frost giants, and white dragons like nobody’s business.
Remember Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance? Released in 2001, it was the isometric console entry into the Baldur’s Gate game series, previously exclusively available to PC players. People enjoyed it so much, it got a sequel in 2004. Now, forget about it, because Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance isn’t that.
Published by Wizards of the Coast and developed by Tuque, the new Dark Alliance is a third-person action RPG that you can play with up to three friends. You have a choice of four distinct heroes (including everyone’s favourite drow Drizzt Do’Urden), each with a unique playstyle and customisable abilities. As you hack, slash, and fireball your way through the frigid wastes of Icewind Dale, you’ll earn more powerful gear and unlock more powerful abilities to aid you in your quest to murder all the monsters.
Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance is due to launch on PC (Steam), Xbox, and PlayStation (with free next-gen upgrades) on 22 June.
