Proving that not even made-up worlds are safe from the dreary schemes of technology and innovation “entrepreneurs”, one Valheim player has designed and built a component production factory with predictably limited prospects for its employees.
So much, so almost every factory ever, you’re probably thinking. The working class is supposed to be cheap and disposable so we can have disposable things for cheap. That’s, like, basic economics. And Reddit user leathermattress’s Greydwarf Toaster 5000 factory is the same, but it’s also different. This guy has solved the problem of the working class realising that, actually, this entire system is a bad deal for them by turning his employees into the product.
You don’t have to waste complimentary coffee, equipment leases, and pension funds on lumber workers if your lumber workers are made of lumber. It’s so obvious now. Forget cutting out the middle-man, we’re cutting up the middle-man and the men on each side of him. That’s a 300 percent increase in profits for the shareholders, and a 0.7 percent one-time taxable bonus for the boys in R&D. Shark Tank is gonna love it.
Ignoring the questionable ethics of it, though, this is such a genius exploit of the game mechanics. Games like Valheim that revolve around a repetitive loop of resource acquisition and not much else can become a tedious chore for a lot of players, so the Greydwarf Toaster 5000 or, I dunno, maybe a MEGA RAMP can help keep the grind fun. That, or you could do something meaningful with your time in viking purgatory and join the Body Recovery Squad.
