If this Bloomberg report is anything to go by, we could see a bigger, better Nintendo Switch in stores by Christmas.
According to Bloomberg, and their secret sources, Nintendo intends to reveal a new version of the Switch, with a bigger Samsung OLED display, some time towards the end of the year. I know what you’re thinking, and Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa did recently say that we would not see a new Switch “anytime soon”, but December isn’t soon, so technically he wasn’t lying if this happens to be a real thing.
This alleged “Super Switch” will potentially feature a 7-inch Samsung OLED screen which would be more battery friendly than the current 6.2-inch liquid crystal display. The new Switch will potentially also be capable of running at 4k resolution when paired with a TV, which would be a vast improvement on the current 1080p. Samsung will apparently begin mass production of the new screens in June.
Rumours about a Switch Pro have been around for a while now, so manage your expectations. Also, Bloomberg has been wrong before. But do continue to dream – they’re the one thing nobody can take from you.
