Rainbow Six Siege is definitely getting crossplay and cross-progression, we’re just not sure when.
According to a recent interview with PC Gamer, game director Jean-Baptiste Halle thinks “it would be great if PlayStation and Xbox could play together” and that they are “actively working” on crossplay for Rainbow Six Siege. Just not for PC players. Sorry.
I can see the pros, but I can also see the cons. So, for this one, it’s too early for us to communicate.
Unlike other games that let console players team up with their PC buddies, like Apex Legends and Call of Duty: Warzone, console players don’t get any aim assist in Rainbow Six Siege, making it exceptionally difficult to compete against the superior combination of mouse and keyboard. Siege also already has a problem with console players using third-party hardware to enable them to use a mouse and keyboard to play. So, PC crossplay seems unlikely for now, unless they match people by input device, but that somewhat negates the point of crossplay.
However, cross-progression (sharing all of your progress and purchases across platforms) will be for everyone, when it eventually gets implemented. The functionality is in early development, so there isn’t a set date for when it will appear, yet.
