She’s creepy, she’s kooky, mysterious, and spooky, and now everyone’s favourite misanthrope is getting her own live-action Netflix series, directed by Tim Burton.
Netflix is teaming up with Burton for an eight-episode series following an adolescent Wednesday Addams. The synopsis according to Netflix:
The upcoming eight-episode series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday’s years as a student at the peculiar Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago – all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships of the strange and diverse student body.
No stranger to depicting the outsider experience on screen, the Wednesday series will be Burton’s television directorial debut. Executive producers include Andrew Mittman (The Addams Family (2019)), Kevin Miserocchi (The Addams Family (2019)), Kayla Alpert (Code Black), Jonathan Glickman (all of the Rush Hours), and Gail Berman (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). No casting announcements have been made, as yet. Although, you can almost guarantee that Helena Bonham Carter will be involved.

If there isn’t a cameo by Christina Ricci, I don’t know what the point of anything is any more.
