Pedro Pascal, who you should all know by now from his excellent roles in little things like The Mandalorian, Game of Thrones, and Narcos, is all set to play sad-daddy Joel in the Last of Us TV series adaptation for HBO.
The plot of the Last of Us series appears to be keeping to the story of the, super-popular, original game. Taking place 20 years after modern civilisation has fallen to a spore-based pandemic, The Last of Us follows tormented survivor Joel (Pascal) as he is tasked with smuggling 14-year-old Ellie (played by Game of Throne’s Bella Ramsay) out of an oppressive quarantine zone in a post-apocalyptic USA. Traumatic shenanigans ensue.
No stranger to playing a father figure to a special child, Pedro Pascal seems like a pretty good choice for Joel.
The Last of Us series is being adapted for HBO by Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) who is also working on the highly concerning Borderlands movie. There has been no indication of a release date, as yet.
