NAG’s Christine King has published her debut novel

In this week’s edition of Things I’m Too Lazy And Incompetent To Accomplish, my much more talented colleague has finished writing an actual, for reals book. I’m not even jelly. Shut up, mom.

Stormcaller: Part One of the Murmuration is out now on Apple, Kindle, and other vendors, featuring contemporary font choices and a provocative lavendercore aesthetic. Also, fantasy. According to the Googles, a “murmuration” is a sort of flash mob, but with starlings, so I guess it’s got birds too. But probably, like, magic birds? I dunno, because I’m trying to finish The Expanse before I get distracted with other books.

Raised in fear of her elemental power, Seren has spent her life protecting her exiled people and trying to live up to their legends. When that responsibility is brutally taken from her, she and her shapeshifting friend Atomi must enter a divided world where their very existence is treason. Axys is a land of peace and prosperity for those in the Eternal Lady’s favour, but her benevolence comes at a cost that Seren and Atomi are unwilling to bear.

A storm wind stirs the long dormant ashes of rebellion.

Their legend is only just beginning.

At R50 or so, it’s less than the price of a takeout pizza and the calories don’t even count. Plus, in like ten years, you can tell people that you remember when Christine used to write for this random website, what was it, GAG or whatever.
