Launched on Friday, Activision’s new US military recruitment sim features questionable morality, provocative politics, a super creepy Ronald Reagan – and a totally different kind of Nacht der Untoten. This time, they’re dressed up to boogie down like it’s 1983.
First introduced in 2017 via a BBC News video because the internet is random like that, the Ghanian “coffin dance” meme was subsequently re-invented for the 2020 coronavirus pandemic with an EDM remix on TikTok because… the internet is random like that. Now it’s back in the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies map Die Maschine, as we discovered over the weekend.

The first time for us, this psychedelic easter egg popped entirely by accident, but according to PCGamesN, the event is actually started by shooting a series of five orbs around the Pack-A-Punch in the power station. At the end, the box opens up and dumps a bunch of resources. Groovy.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is out now on Xbox and PlayStation consoles, and PC.
