You remember Anthem, right? Well, BioWare is working away at the Anthem NEXT/2.0 update (which is meant to fix all the things) and recently revealed a few Javelin changes that may intrigue you. If you enjoy watching dying creatures cling desperately to life, that is (sicko).
A recent blog post by BioWare detailed some of the ideas they have for improving Javelin gameplay and builds in their, much beleaguered, online action RPG Anthem. Mostly, this involves enhancing the customisation experience so you can mould your Javelin to your gameplay style with features like unlockable (not dropped) abilities, skill tree progression (with an Advanced Skill Tree for each Specialisation), and the introduction of a powerful, customisable Artifact for each Javelin (which will replace the Components system).
This means that Pilot Level will no longer be an indicator of your progress or supposed skill.
When considering how you grow and become more powerful in Anthem, we observed that Pilot Level isn’t a satisfying measure of your progress, so we set out to answer the question, ‘What would it look like for Freelancers to become more skillful at piloting each Javelin?’ We’ve been exploring the idea of Javelin experience and levels which allow you to permanently unlock Abilities for your Javelin that you can then customize further with Mods.
However, this is all a work in progress, so don’t expect these updates to make it to the actual game exactly how BioWare has described or at all. They also haven’t given any indication of when Anthem 2.0 is likely to arrive, other than to say it’s going to take longer than you expect.
It’s probably best if you view these as hypothetical updates that might come to a dead game… eventually – get hype.
