Gears 5 Marcus Batista

Gears 5 goes full Batista in next-gen update

Dave Batista finally gets his wish to play Marcus Fenix in the next-gen update of Gears 5. Good for him.

They wouldn’t let him play Marcus Fenix in the Gears of War film adaptation, that’s totally still happening (maybe), so maximum fanboy, and professional wrestler turned actor, Dave Batista (Guardians of the Galaxy) got the next best thing when he was added as a skin in the Gears 5 multiplayer. But, now, he’s getting the even better-er thing, because he will become Marcus Fenix in the Xbox Series X/S versions of Gears 5. If that’s what you’re into, I mean.

With the latest trailer for the next-gen update of Gears 5, we see that, besides all the fancy new content and optimisations, including 120FPS, you will have the option to replace Marcus in the campaign with Batista – re-skinned and re-voiced.

Personally, that’s a no from me (John DiMaggio Marcus for life), but I’m sure this will appeal to someone. I’m not sure why the Batista re-skin doesn’t carry the same facial scars and weathered appearance as traditional Marcus, though. He looks ridiculously baby-faced by comparison.

The Xbox Series X/S update of Gears 5 will be available on 10 November to coincide with the launch of the consoles.
