Cross-play is coming to Apex Legends on 6 October and, don’t worry, console players won’t be matched with PC opponents, unless you have a PC friend in your squad. In which case, my condolences.
Respawn will be testing out cross-play during the upcoming Aftermarket Collection Event. This cross-play beta will allow squad mates to team up across PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 for maximum glory. Game director Chad Grenier explained how it’s all going to work in a recent news post.
For starters, cross-play will be enabled by default. If you really don’t want to be involved, you can disable it, but doing so will make matchmaking take way, way longer. However, if you’re on console and you’re scared you’ll suddenly become murder-fodder for a bunch of aimbot-sporting PC haxxors, fear not. Console players will only match with PC opponents if they have a PC player in their squad.
To find your alter-platform friends, head on over to the friends menu, select Find Friend, and put their username in to send out a friend request. Once friends, you can invite them to your game as usual. Icons next to usernames will indicate what platform everyone is on.
The limited-time event will also feature a new game mode – Flashpoint. In Flashpoint, no health or shield consumables spawn on the map, but there are healing zones (Flashpoints) that provide ambient health and shield regen instead. You can, however, craft Phoenix Kits from the Replicator, if you want to be like that. The ring will also be constantly closing and it will always end on one of these Flashpoints.

I feel like every Legend should get a kitty skin. Go on, Respawn, just be cool.
