First it was buck, now it’s bun buns, as Red Dead Online players are becoming one with their spirit animals. As long as their spirit animals are deer and rabbits.
Much like GTA Online’s drug-fuelled animal transformations (except not quite as fun), the newly-introduced Vitalism Studies pamphlets in RDO let you turn into an animal, but only a specific animal, and only for five minutes, if you collect some special herbs and make your way to a specific spot on the map. Earlier this month, all Level 5 Naturalists received the Buck Vitalism pamphlet, leading to much deer-based murder and merriment, and this week you get to turn into a rabbit. Which can’t murder anything. I checked.
Also, the pamphlet costs eight gold and I have better things to spend eight gold on than inhabiting a rabbit for five minutes (even if that is enough time to pronk around singing Art Garfunkel’s Bright Eyes). Rockstar has even tried to tempt players into parting with their precious currency by offering a 50 percent discount on upper-tier Naturalist items, should you embrace the rabbit this week.
Rumour has it that there are two more spirit animal transformations on the way; boar and opossum. So, sorry if you were hoping for cougar. I’d totally spend eight gold on the ability to turn into a cougar, just saying.
