Deathloop

So here’s how Deathloop actually works

Bethesda’s upcoming 1960s assassin quest, Deathloop, is all about time management.

We got a second trailer for Deathloop during the PS5 hypestream extravaganza and it explained a few things. In Deathloop, you play as Colt, forever living the same 24 hours which reset when he dies or the day ends. Colt’s mission is to assassinate eight members of an eternal life cult, known as the Visionaries, before the 24 hours is up. You’re not going to figure the people puzzle out on your first try, so expect to die, die, and die again as you learn each mark’s patterns of activity. This will help you manipulate them into making your assassination quest more efficient and eventually get you free of the island’s time loop.

But there’s a catch, because Juliana Blake is a rival assassin whose sole goal in life is to hunt you down, over and over again. And Juliana doesn’t keep a schedule. Also, she can take on the appearance of any NPC. Also, also, random strangers from the internet can take control of her, if you’re playing online, which could make everything worse, or better, depending on the quality of the stranger.

This sounds like some amazing fun, although the prospect of managing to hit seven of your eight targets, messing up on the last, and having to repeat it all over again, may not be everyone’s can of Monster.

Deathloop is coming to PC and PlayStation 5 (as a timed console-exclusive) sometime in the middle of 2021. There hasn’t been any official news about when an Xbox Series X version will follow.
