Star Wars: Squadrons is mostly all about the multiplayer, but there is a single-player campaign for those who lack friends, or the emotional energy for playing online with strangers, but still want to go pew pew.
Squadrons takes place after the events of Return of the Jedi, shortly after the destruction of the second Death Star, and the single-player campaign will have you flying missions for both the New Republic and the, somewhat broken, Empire as one side fights to secure their freedom and the other to regain control.
There hasn’t been any official indication of how long the story mode is, but don’t expect an epic, sprawling tale that will keep you occupied for weeks. According to The Verge, Squadron’s creative director Ian Frazier previously suggested that the campaign length is pretty standard for a multiplayer-focussed shooter, so maybe around 15 hours. But that’s not nothing.
Star Wars: Squadrons is due to launch on 2 October 2020 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, with VR and cross-play support for PC and PS4.
