Grounded Bird

Grounded has gone to the birds with first content update

Obsidian is pretty pleased with the popularity of Grounded; their Honey-I-Shrunk-the-Kids-em-up, backyard survival adventure. Since the release of the preview last month, it has gained over a million players and, now, it’s time for the first of their promised monthly content updates.

The introduction of the bird (which looks like a type of crow) means there’s a new ingredient to gather (feathers) that can be used to craft new gear and items (like the bed and Marksman’s Cap). Monstrous as it may seem, the bird doesn’t appear to be one of your many enemies, yet. Part of Obsidian’s update announcement suggests its role in your backyard adventure may evolve over time and future updates.

More exciting, perhaps, is the introduction of player perks. With this update, you can now unlock player perks that mutate your character, giving them improved abilities like increased grass-cutting speed, increased health, and improved defences. Up to three perks/mutations can be equipped at a time. More perks will be added over time.

On the building side, the update adds new decorative fence types and furniture options for your camp. For all the details, check out the official patch notes.

You can find Grounded on Xbox One (including the Xbox Game Pass) and PC (on both the Windows Store and Steam Early Access). The official release is expected some time in 2021.
