After his resurrection as the Arisen, Ethan sets out on a revenge-quest against the dragon that murdered his family and stole his heart. No, not like that, like, literally.
Based on Capcom’s action RPG of the same name, Netflix’s Dragon’s Dogma is an original anime series, by Japanese animation studio Sublimation, that seems to be following the gist of the game’s plot, in which the Arisen goes on a dragon hunt with his, traditionally required, Pawn assistant – adventures, and gradual envelopment by the monster within, ensue.
The smoothness of the CG dragon is a little off-putting, but this could still be fun. The trailer also seems to be an English dub, since the mouth animations aren’t always well-synced, so I assume there will be an option to watch this in Japanese.
Dragon’s Dogma is due to begin streaming on Netflix on 17 September 2020.
