And a good one, too.
The Batman sees Bruce in his second year of bat-themed vigilantism, apparently assisting the Gotham PD in the apprehension of a disgruntled Gothamite, who has been expressing their feelings, about the city’s rampant corruption, through the medium of murder, word games, and personalised greeting cards – the sort of thing the Riddler would get up to.
This trailer also gives us a glimpse of a few other iconic villains, including Catwoman (in a subtly kitty-eared balaclava), a barely recognisable Colin Farrell as the Penguin, a gang of youths dressed up in clown makeup (suggesting the Joker is a thing even if he’s not in this movie), and, the mainstay of the franchise, Batman’s internalised rage.
Due to COVID-related delays, The Batman is due to release on 1 October 2021.
