Rockstar recently released a little patch for Red Dead Online that was meant to fix a couple of issues brought in by the Naturalist update, but, apparently, it also broke everything else, so they’re taking it back.
I didn’t notice any of these issues on my Xbox One X (I’ve been tranquillising raccoons with impunity from my entirely solid horse), but plenty of other people apparently did. Problems ranged from absurd horse glitches, to an invincible, mystery follower, to a game-breaking lack of animals and inability to shoot. Red Dead Online fans are used to their unfair share of bugs, but Rockstar conceded that this was a bit much by announcing the rollback on their Support page:
An update to Red Dead Online intended to provide security improvements and address connection errors unintentionally introduced a range of issues including connection problems, low animal spawn counts, difficulty pitching Camps, entering Moonshine shacks as well as others on PS4 and Xbox One. We have reverted back to the previous version on those platforms, initially launched on July 28. This should address these recent issues and restore stability – meanwhile we will continue to work to eliminate any remaining issues through future updates.
So, if your horse has been ghosting you of late, hopefully things in RDO should have gone back to their normal, only a little broken, state.
