Amazon Prime’s satirical superhero-’em-up is prepping for its season two launch next month with a trailer introducing new, not-exactly-subtle Vought International acquisition Stormfront.
There’s a lot going on in the (very NSFW) trailer, including bad swears and people exploding and political irony, so we can expect more of the same when it premieres on 4 September. I’m counting the minutes, you guys.
Based on the comic series by writer Garth Ennis (Preacher) and artist Darick Robertson (Transmetropolitan), and produced by Seth Rogan, The Boys is a subversive revision of the genre, in which superheroes are corporate-sponsored, social media celebrity narcissists. Which, when you think about it, is probably much more realistic than the hyper-idealistic comforts of DC and Marvel shows, and definitely much more fun.
