Fable is back with “a new beginning”

And one unhappy ending. For this fairy, anyway.

Debuted during last night’s Xbox Games Showcase, the Fable reboot is in production for PC and Xbox Series X at Forza Horizon series studio Playground Games and promises “a land of fantastical creatures and wondrous places”. A 2019 leak claimed that the sequel would also include multiplayer and some kind of time travel, but its expected reveal at E3 didn’t happen and we don’t know if this is even the same project, so.

This is the first Fable game since Fable 3, which launched in 2010, because we don’t count Fable Heroes and Fable: The Journey in this house. It’s also the first Fable game not developed by original franchise creator Lionhead Studios, which closed in 2016, and also-also the first Fable game that won’t be hyped by an awkwardly emotional Peter Molyneux. I’m almost going to miss that. Almost.
