Soon you’ll be hunting down all your friends in Dead by Daylight regardless of platform

Steam and Windows users can already play Dead by Daylight together, but an upcoming update will add Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One players into the mix – no platform is safe.

Cross-play and cross-progression were announced in a recent update by the Dead by Daylight team. After much testing, including for balance, matchmaking times, and network functionality, Dead by Daylight will be getting cross-play between PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One players. Since the game system and architecture of the Mobile version of the game are “significantly different”, Mobile will not be included in cross-play, for now.

Since they’re still testing it, there is no specific date for when this update will arrive, but the developers say it’s coming “really soon”; potentially December. The cross-play feature will be optional.

Coming a little sooner than cross-play, Dead by Daylight is also getting cross-progression that will allow players to share their progress, purchases, and inventory across Steam, Google Stadia, and Nintendo Switch. There is no guarantee that it will also be enabled for other platforms, but they are going to try. In order to enable cross-progression, players will have to create a new Behaviour Account so that the server can merge all the information. This functionality should arrive some time in September.
