Manor Lords is a medieval city-builder, combined with large-scale, real-time strategy battling features, in development by a single person under the studio name Slavic Magic. Yes, you’re probably a bit of an underachiever and that’s fine.
Currently in development, Manor Lords is hoping to reproduce a realistic, organic, medieval city building experience that includes the occasional strategic battle. The Early Access version contains city building and management, diplomacy and enemy A.I., infantry battles, and about a 2km square map with 50 regions to conquer. There are no grids to contain your dreams of expansion, so feel free to blame your poor design choices on historical accuracy. Same goes for your town being wiped out by plague.
According to the website, “seasons pass, the weather changes, towns can rise and fall to war, disease, or famine”. On the battling side, you’ll have to manage soldier morale and fatigue, as well as equipment and formations, if you’re going to succeed.
The full release should add cavalry, fortifications, siege warfare, gunpowder, crossbows, larger cities, and more maps, but it is being developed by just the one person, so manage your expectations.
Manor Lords is due for release on PC some time around September/October 2020. If this is your medieval jam, go wishlist it on Steam.
