Serious Sam 4 is coming to PC and Google Stadia in August, but consoles will have to wait until next year to engage in some iconic carnage.
Developed by Croteam and published by Devolver Digital, Serious Sam 4 is a prequel, in case anyone was concerned about how the plot will fit in amongst the previous instalments. This time, Sam, and his team of “misfit commandos”, has been tasked with defending what remains of humanity from Mental’s monstrous invading hordes. Speaking of hordes, the new Legion System means you’ll be taking on literally thousands of enemies at once, so I hope you’re ready to backpedal.
The hordes will include the classic enemies you know and love, now with a few added extras including the Processed, Belcher, and Zealot. Don’t worry, you’ll be getting more guns, too, like the auto shotgun, but feel free to let loose with the tried-and-tested minigun, chainsaw launcher, or canon – whatever feels right. Guns can also be upgraded to maximise your potential for artistic expression.
Serious Sam 4 will come with online, four-player co-op.
There is no specific release date, yet, so August is as close as it gets. The delay to consoles is due to Stadia exclusivity.
