Nintendo boosts Switch production to keep up with pandemic purchase panic

With almost everybody on the planet stuck at home until who even knows, Nintendo’s console has been selling like hot toilet paper and between Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Ring Fit Adventure, it’s this apocalypse season’s must-have prepper accessory.

Since global lockdowns started in March, however, the $300 Switch has also become this apocalypse season’s most limited prepper accessory, and even third-party resell prices have increased by as much as $200 extra on Amazon and eBay. According to Eurogamer, Nintendo now intends to expand its 2020 production by about 10 percent over 2019’s 20 million units to accommodate consumer wishlists, including revised component and assembly orders up to 50 percent over previous numbers.

In the meantime, forget 5G and “smart dust”, because it’s obvious Nintendo cooked up COVID-19.
