Greenland

Greenland is here to distract you with a fictional apocalypse

Not the country, the movie, which is looking more Deep Impact and less Geostorm, so that’s something.

This time, Gerard Butler is up against a fragmenting comet that’s doing its best to end civilisation. Will he get his family to the bunker, in Greenland, in time? Or will our plucky hero’s family survive because they ran up a really big hill/were conveniently friends with a high-level military specialist/bullied their way onto an ark? Could go either way and we all promise to laugh nervously through the obligatory rioting scenes.

This is so unrealistic; all those people gathering together in one house.

People might complain that a movie about disaster and civil unrest is in poor taste at a time like this, but we all saw how 2011’s Contagion suddenly surged in popularity at the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, so yeah. At least Greenland isn’t actually happening.

Greenland is due out on 12 June 2020, but its release could be delayed due to impacts on the film industry related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
