A veteran EVE Online player recently attempted to haul 16 years-worth of collected blueprints, through a notoriously dangerous star system, and it went about as well as you can imagine.
No one knows why Lactose Intolerant, an elder EVE Online player, decided to haul a collection of blueprints (used to craft ships, weapons, and modules), estimated to be worth around $5,000 (about R81,600) in actual money, through a star system rife with assassins, in an ill-equipped mining freighter… on autopilot, but he did.
Well, we know why he did it, just not whhhhy. According to the director of Among Shadows, the corporation to which Lactose Intolerant belonged, he was heading to Jita, a major trade hub, where he was going to make and sell copies of the blueprints in order to help financially support other members of the corporation.
Rather predictably, the ship was spotted by the resident space pirates and dispensed with, in explosive fashion, before the NPC space police could respond.
Players haul expensive cargo all the time in EVE Online, but will usually do so in specially reinforced ships that are modded up the wazoo to make them very fast and hard to target. They also don’t usually autopilot through dangerous star systems, choosing to manually detour instead.
Lactose Intolerant no longer plays EVE Online.
So, when last did you want to throw your PC/console out the window?
