Call of Duty: Warzone is coming for Apex Legends’ player record

Apex Legends managed to attract 10 million players just three days after it launched (it took Fortnite 14 days to achieve the same) and it looks like newcomer Call of Duty: Warzone is making a serious bid to bust that record.

Free-to-play battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone launched on Tuesday and, in just 24 hours, has managed to rack up 6 million players.

That’s a rather impressive start that could see it busting through Apex Legends’ record in no time, if the trend continues. Given the current, COVID-19, situation, with far more people staying indoors than normal, who are seeking self-isolation entertainment, this seems quite likely.

Players appear to be pretty happy with Warzone which features team-based gameplay and a rather unique respawn system that sees eliminated players thrown into the Gulag, where they are pitted against another downed player in a battle for the right to respawn – vengeance is strongly encouraged.

Do you think Call of Duty: Warzone has a chance to beat Apex Legends’ record?
