It’s for your own good, I promise.
Elder Scrolls Online is getting a massive overhaul of how the game is downloaded, patched, and stored, which will significantly improve load times, and drastically decrease the amount of space the install takes up on your hard drive, but will also require you to download the whole game again.
PC players already went through this in February and, now, it’s the consoles’ turn to get Update 25. The download should be about 67GB. Be aware: there will also be server downtime for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 due to maintenance between 08:00 and 18:00 SAST today (10 March 2020). Plan your life accordingly.
The install also includes the Harrowstorm DLC which is the beginning of the year-long Dark Heart of Skyrim storyline. The DLC is free for ESO Plus members and everyone else can purchase it from the Crown Store.
As a way of thanking your for your patience, Bethesda is giving everyone a Crimson Torchbug pet, for free, in the two weeks following the patch. Make sure you redeem it from the Crown Store before 24 March.
