I don’t know what ARK: Survival Evolved is about anymore, but the first part of the Genesis expansion includes shiny, neon, space whales and giant turtle islands, so who even cares.
Long gone are the days when ARK’s main draw card was getting to live out your Dino-Rider dreams. ARK: Genesis Part 1 is the latest paid expansion to the survival series and sees you awaking in a virtual simulation with HLN-A, the floating AI companion, by your side, ready to guide you through all the new missions you have to complete and the new biomes you have to visit.
You’ll be travelling across five different mini-maps, each with their own biome (Bog, Arctic, Ocean, Volcanic, and Lunar), as you fight, hunt, tame, and generally survive, your way through the simulation. Missions include such activities as gunning down waves of enemies, escorting baby animals safely to their homes, hunting powerful bosses, and a rousing game of Dodo-Basketball – something for everyone.
Also, you can build a home on top of a giant turtle now.
ARK: Genesis Part 1 is out now, as part of the Season Pass. If Genesis has you intrigued, you have to own ARK: Survival Evolved to play, but that’s currently on sale on, pretty much, every platform, so get into it.
