Ahead of the game’s launch next month, Square Enix has launched a free Final Fantasy VII Remake demo on PS4 for try-before-buyers, with an exclusive console theme as an extra bonus.
The 7.5 GB demo features the game’s opening mission, and introduces protagonist hair-for-hire Cloud Strife and the dramatic bombing of Shinra’s Mako reactor in Midgar by eco-terrorist org AVALANCHE. A PS Plus subscription isn’t required.

If you download the demo before 11 May, you also get access to a super-special Final Fantasy VII Remake theme that will unlock when the actual game drops on 10 April.
