CD Projekt Red has confirmed that you’ll get a free upgrade to the Xbox Series X version of Cyberpunk 2077 if you bought it on Xbox One.
If you are worried about buying the Xbox One version of Cyberpunk 2077, because you were thinking of getting the Xbox Series X, but maybe not right away, because you just had a baby and your dog has diabetes, and everything’s just expensive, but if you buy Cyberpunk now, you’ll have to buy it again to take advantage of all the next-gen goodness when you do get around to getting the Series X, just chill – CD Projekt Red (with a little help from Microsoft) has your back.
Gamers should never be forced to purchase the same game twice or pay for upgrades. Owners of #Cyberpunk2077 for Xbox One will receive the Xbox Series X upgrade for free when available. https://t.co/nfkfFLj85w

I’m sure other developers will be doing the same… right? Since this is made possible by Microsoft’s new Smart Delivery feature, it’s unlikely that the same deal will apply to the PlayStation 4 and 5 situation, unless Sony has a similar feature they’re not talking about.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be out on 17 September 2020 and the Xbox Series X launches some time towards the end of the year, around Christmas.
