Fortnite’s 11.50 patch goes live today, bringing with it the Unreal Engine’s Chaos physics system and a potential Birds of Prey crossover.
The biggest change in this patch, which required some temporary Fortnite downtime today, is the switch over to Unreal Engine’s Chaos physics system. It’s still the Fortnite you know, just better, especially when it comes to building destruction, which is the Chaos system’s specialty. This means structures should crumble and break apart when they’re damaged, instead of just having chunks disappear. You should also see an improvement in how everything moves, in general, including vehicles and parts of the environment, like bushes and trees. Since this is all new, and bound to introduce some issues, Epic is looking forward to your feedback if you notice anything weird.
Besides Chaos, today’s patch also heralds the return of the Launch Pad, for non-competitive matches, and addresses a number of bugs, including a matchmaking issue with new players on consoles. For more details, you can check out Epic’s official patch notes over here.
What Epic hasn’t officially mentioned is a Birds of Prey crossover involving a Harley Quinn skin, something discovered by data miner HYPEX. Birds of Prey is set to hit theatres on 7 February 2020, so the tie-in makes sense.
