Also pick-axe swinging, emoting, and toy chucking.
In a recent blog post, Epic announced that it will be taking collusion in competitive Fortnite play very seriously in 2020 as part of its crack down on cheating and unsportsmanlike behaviour. Collusion is when players work together when they’re meant to be enemies, teaming up against other players for maximum victory.
In Fortnite, signalling is generally used to tell other players that you don’t want to fight at that specific moment (like when you’re both running from the storm), using such methods as pick-axe swinging, emoting, tossing toys, and jumping to express pacifism or a temporary truce. Epic has now clarified that this goes against Fortnite’s collusion rules regarding communication and is considered cheating.
From now on, Epic will be taking action against this sort of behaviour in competitive matches, but, before you all start raging about jumping being a bannable offence in a game that generally involves a lot of jumping, all reported incidents will be reviewed for authenticity and repeat offenders will get increasingly severe penalties. Epic also expressed that pacifism is still allowed, it’s the communication part that’s not.
