Sony is skipping E3 again – for the fans

Come to Sony’s party, instead. We’ve got kombucha and The Last of Us Part II.

Sony is skipping E3 again and will, instead, attend hundreds of (totally way cooler) consumer-focused events, across the world, throughout the year. This is because PlayStation is all about the fans, fans that want to learn new, exciting things that are relevant to them. Fans like logos, right?

It’s certainly a choice, given that both Sony and Microsoft have their next-gen consoles coming out at the end of the year and everyone is waiting to hear more about the specs so they can decide which one to buy. As if a lifelong PlayStation fan is going to jump ship because the Xbox Series X flashed them their teraflops. Hopefully, Sony will do something fun, like dropping their PS5 details an hour before Microsoft is due on stage (Sony is 100% that bitch).

E3 is a behemoth hype-beast that neither Sony or Microsoft need, these days, but it would be a hell of lot more efficient if we only had to go to one place for all the shiny, new, “not actual gameplay” trailers. I have to click on something else, now? Ugh.

E3 2020 will take place from 9 to 11 June.
