Broken Roads

Chuck another prawn on the post-apocalyptic barbie with indie RPG Broken Roads

The land is inhospitable, everything’s trying to kill you, and every other dialogue option is a suggestion to go to the pub for a drink. Post-apocalyptic? That’s just Australia, mate.

Broken Roads is an isometric RPG by indie developers Drop Bear Bytes. It’s set in a hand-drawn, post-apocalyptic Australia, where all the best apocalypses take place considering Mad Max, Tank Girl, and Cargo (look it up), and has a rather unique morality system called the Moral Compass.

You’re not just good or evil, paragon or renegade, honourable or dishonourable, no, you’re more complicated than that. So, every decision you make in Broken Roads fits under one of four philosophical leanings; Utilitarianism, Nihilism, Machiavellianism, or Existentialism. Your future choices are also influenced by your past decisions, as your core leaning becomes more apparent. So, you won’t be able to chop and change between “good” and “bad” behaviours.

This looks interesting, although the collection of characters is a little pale at the moment.

Broken Roads is set for release some time in 2021, for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
