It seems Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players on Xbox One and PC will have to wait about a year to play the Special Ops Survival Mode that PlayStation 4 owners will have access to from launch. Rude.
Special Ops is a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game mode that focuses on a series of plot-driven, co-op missions that increase in difficulty as you progress. All platforms will have access to the majority of the Spec Ops experience, just not Survival; Call of Duty’s popular horde mode.
A few extra days of platform exclusivity is pretty much normal these days, for some games, including Call of Duty, but Sony appears to be taking exclusivity to the extreme by securing exclusive access to the Survival mode of Spec Ops for PlayStation 4 players, a full year before the other platforms get to have a go.
This is despite Activision saying that “most post-launch gameplay content, including new multiplayer maps, new multiplayer modes, special ops missions and more will release simultaneously across all platforms”. I mean, they did say “most”…
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to launch 25 October 2019 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. PC and Xbox players will gain access to the Spec Ops Survival Mode from 1 October 2020.
